I’ve been a musician for over 20 years, though I didn’t pick up a guitar until I was 15. From that moment on, I was hooked. Always learning and improving my technique, I built my skills by studying songs I loved while also digging deeper into theory and style. Over the years, I’ve shared that passion for guitar with others whenever the opportunity has arisen. Today, I’m proud to be a fully DBS-checked guitar tutor helping students of all ages unlock their musical potential.

The Story So Far
Between 2009 and 2014, I lived in Brighton, where I studied for a Level 3 Performing Musician Diploma before progressing to an FD and BA (Hons) in Professional Musicianship. Hours of practice, theory, and performance training shaped me into the musician I am today. Yet, as I quickly realised, knowledge means little without real-world experience.
After graduating from the Brighton Institute of Modern Music in 2014, I threw myself into performance. I joined original bands, toured with function bands, and built a reputation as a reliable live guitarist. By the mid-2010s, I also began teaching guitar. Those early lessons, travelling across Sussex to work with students one-to-one, taught me how different every guitarist’s journey is. This laid the foundation for my teaching approach: flexible, personalised, and student-led.
In 2017, I moved to Australia for a short time, before returning to the UK and joining Rocksteady Music School as a Rock and Pop Music Teacher. Working with groups of primary school children was transformative. It forced me to adapt quickly, explain clearly, and engage players of all levels. That experience shaped me into the teacher I am today.
By 2020, it was time for a new chapter. I moved to Swansea, South Wales, where I launched Hûw Lloyd-Williams Guitar Tuition. Since then, I’ve taught almost 100 students, ranging from complete beginners to advanced players. Lessons now cover not only guitar but also bass, ukulele, songwriting, and music theory.
Performing Musician
Alongside teaching, I’ve always been active as a performing musician. In Sussex, I spent years playing in function bands, performing at weddings, parties, and events along the South Coast. These experiences gave me versatility across genres—rock, pop, funk, acoustic, and more—while also developing my stagecraft and professionalism.
Since moving to Swansea, I’ve continued to perform regularly. I co-founded a band, Valley Uprising, that toured the South Wales club circuit for nearly two years, building a strong reputation as energetic, crowd-pleasing performers.
In 2024, I launched a brand-new project: WARPD¡!, a pop-punk and emo covers band bringing back the biggest anthems of the 2000s. With this project, I’m combining years of live experience with my love for high-energy, nostalgic music. Watch this space for gigs and updates!

Songwriter
Songwriting has always been part of my musical journey. Between 2021 and 2023, I decided to take it further by studying for a Masters in Songwriting. This gave me the chance to refine my craft, explore new techniques, and collaborate with other writers.
Now, I bring this knowledge into both my performances and my lessons. Whether it’s helping students write their first song or developing advanced compositional skills, I love guiding others through the creative process. Songwriting is not just about notes and chords—it’s about telling stories, expressing emotions, and creating something uniquely your own.
Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time, getting back into playing after a break, or looking to refine your skills, I can help. My lessons are fun, flexible, and tailored to you. From guitar, bass, and ukulele to music theory and songwriting, there’s something here for every musician.
📍 Based in Swansea, I offer both in-person and online lessons, making learning accessible wherever you are.
